Police Range Training Center

The Police Range Training Center, located in Hammond, Indiana, had surpassed the capacity of its previous infrastructure. Initial proposals for a traditionally constructed edifice were abruptly discontinued due to the unexpectedly high cost. Consequently, the organization began to explore the option of a permanent modular office building. VESTA was able to offer detailed specifications and valuable input on the floor plan, accompanied by a cost-effective quotation. Upon the project’s award, VESTA promptly initiated the production of the 48’x60’ office building at their manufacturing facility. In collaboration with Hasse Construction, VESTA facilitated site preparation and installation of the permanent modular office building, a process that was completed in a mere four weeks.

Hasse Construction was responsible for the demolition of the old structures on the premises and for obtaining the necessary construction permits from the City of Hammond. The utilization of modular construction significantly expedited the operational readiness of the new building. This enabled the Hammond Police Force to commence usage of the facility in May, following the cessation of winter weather. Moreover, the previous facilities were aging and did not accommodate year-round usage of the outdoor training range. The newly constructed building and range are now available for year-round use, serving not only Hammond but also neighboring local and county law enforcement agencies.

Frequenty Asked Questions

No. Modular buildings, even temporary ones, can be expected to last for decades. Permanent modular buildings may last for generations.

You can choose to purchase or lease modular buildings. At VESTA, we offer two leasing options:

  • Operational lease: With an operational lease, you can essentially rent the building for us as long as you need. When your lease ends, the building will return to our inventory. Operational leases can last for years at a time, although they are typically more affordable if they only last for five years or less.
  • Financed lease: Financed leases allow you to lease a building with the intention of owning. At VESTA, we work with financing partners who are specifically trained to finance leases for modular buildings.

Yes! Modular buildings are easy to customize. Whether you want a specific layout, materials, interior design, exterior design, specialty rooms, furniture, or amenities, we can customize your modular building to fit your needs.

The best way to understand is to remember that all modular construction is prefabricated, but not all prefabricated construction is modular.

Modular construction typically focuses on the assembly of fully closed or nearly closed modules. “3D volumetric” is also a term used for traditional modular construction. Prefab construction refers to anything pre-built for a building project, including pre-built walls, floors, or ceilings.
