Wellspan Health and Surgery

Wellspan Health & Surgery Center required the addition of an MRI unit to their existing facility. Originally, Wellspan was looking to add a mobile imaging trailer to fulfill their need. Due to limited space and cost, VESTA was contacted to provide a solution for a permanent building to house a Philips Ingenia Elition 3.0T X MRI. The Wellspan design had to maintain a cohesive architectural aesthetic with the existing campus, the placement had to fit within the available footprint, and the construction had to be carried out in a manner that did not disrupt daily medical operations.

Wellspan selected our team because of their experience and proposed solution, which included a single modular building to house the MRI with a connection to an existing walkway, integrating the addition to the medical center. VESTA worked cohesively with their in-house project manager to develop and design the project. With this new design concept and permanent solution, the attached structure allows for both patients and staff to use the facility without having to walk outside to get to the MRI.

With a brick exterior, the modular building blends effortlessly into the overall medical center. Modular construction proved to be an effective solution because not only did it minimize operational disruption, it also allowed site work to progress concurrently with the fabrication of the modular unit, thereby reducing the project schedule.

Frequenty Asked Questions

No. Modular buildings, even temporary ones, can be expected to last for decades. Permanent modular buildings may last for generations.

You can choose to purchase or lease modular buildings. At VESTA, we offer two leasing options:

  • Operational lease: With an operational lease, you can essentially rent the building for us as long as you need. When your lease ends, the building will return to our inventory. Operational leases can last for years at a time, although they are typically more affordable if they only last for five years or less.
  • Financed lease: Financed leases allow you to lease a building with the intention of owning. At VESTA, we work with financing partners who are specifically trained to finance leases for modular buildings.

Yes! Modular buildings are easy to customize. Whether you want a specific layout, materials, interior design, exterior design, specialty rooms, furniture, or amenities, we can customize your modular building to fit your needs.

The best way to understand is to remember that all modular construction is prefabricated, but not all prefabricated construction is modular.

Modular construction typically focuses on the assembly of fully closed or nearly closed modules. “3D volumetric” is also a term used for traditional modular construction. Prefab construction refers to anything pre-built for a building project, including pre-built walls, floors, or ceilings.
